Over the summer months raspberries can be found in abundance at pick-your-own farms, farm shops and in supermarkets. This tasty, British produced fruit is not only healthy but can also be used to make deliciously naughty mouth-watering desserts.
There are plenty of different varieties of raspberry available in colours including pink, peach and yellow but all with the sweet taste that we love. They are easy to grow at home with the raspberry canes available to buy in most garden centres.
Raspberries are great at breakfast time either for a healthy smoothie or when added to your usual breakfast cereal. Stirred into yogurt with a teaspoon of honey and a handful of granola, raspberries make a nutritious and delicious start to the day.
There are lots of different desserts that can be made using raspberries. A simple fruit tart can be made by using a prebaked pastry case, layering raspberries in the case and covering with jelly. Once set, fresh cream can be piped over the jelly with a raspberry place on top for decoration.
If you have a glut of raspberries then a good way to use them is to make raspberry jam or you could lay them on a tray to prevent them sticking together and freeze them for use later in the year.
