It's a challenging time to open a restaurant, catering business or other food related business, but with people staying at home more, there is also a lot of opportunity to find more customers. Here are some tips for opening up a new restaurant:
- Stick to what you know. If you specialise in a particular type of cuisine, cook it. You will build up a reputation for this, and you shouldn't be tempted to spread yourself too thinly and experiment with different dishes.
- Get your marketing sorted from the start. Make sure people know about your business and are fully aware of how they can find you, and what your restaurant offers – online menus are very important.
- Consider offering a takeaway service too. This will help you cater for more customers in your restaurant without having to be able to seat them all – you could offer delivery, or just a takeaway service.
